ARGYLE PINK DIAMONDS

The discovery of the Argyle mine in the remote Kimberley region of Western Australia opened up the source of almost 90% of the world’s supply of pink diamonds. Their unique, deep, intense and vivid colour tones made them desirable to the international jewellers, collectors, investors and connoisseurs. It is of little surprise that terms such as “iconic”, “nature’s gift”, “magical” and “mystical” have been used in order to describe their appearance. Due to their rarity and escalating price over three decades, they have been referred to as the most concentrated form of wealth on earth. With the Argyle mine now closed and the fact that there is only a finite supply left in the market, the demand for these rare gems is likely to increase.

The Collector’s Edition™ provides an ideal platform for the future grading of Argyle pink diamonds, especially those purchased on the secondary markets, older diamonds from private collections, which may be without their original certificates, lot numbers and inscriptions and diamonds smaller than 0.08ct. It will do much to preserve the legacy of these rare and iconic gems whilst maintaining the independence and integrity of the grading and the Argyle mine origin identification process. The predominant use of smaller diamonds in the Collector’s Edition™ enables the product to be more attainable to a broader customer market segment.
